About The Service
The Richmond Redevelopment and Housing Authority (RRHA) Single Room Occupancy (SRO) waiting list for Efficiency apartments is currently open. Applications are being accepted since at least October, 2020, until further notice.
To apply during the opening period, complete the online application here.
This waiting list may have any of the following preferences:
- 50% Family Not Work Rent and paying more than 50% of income for rent
- 50% Family Work Rent and pay more than 50% for rent
- 50% Family Work Rent or Substandard
- 50% Single Not Work Rent or Substandard
- 50% Single Work Rent or Substandard
- 62 yrs old applying for designated elderly hsg
- Average hours worked is less than 20 but greater than 0
Average number of hours spent in combination of work and active participation in an approved training program is less than 20 but greater than zero hours per week - City Resident
Applicants who are verified to live, work or have a written job offer in Richmond who are not currently or within the previous 6 months have not received any form of housing assistance, Federal or State. - Creighton Resident
Current Creighton Residents - Deceased Veterans Preference
Families of deceased veterans and servicemen whose deaths have been determined by the united States Veterans Administration to be service-connected. - Disabled Veterans Preference
Families of disabled veterans whose disabilities have been determined by the United States Veteran Adminstration to be service-connected - Elderly and disabled
Elderly and disabled treated as if they work the greater of 30 hours per week or the average number of hours actualluy worked - Families not working and are paying more that 50% of their income for rent
- HCVP Involuntary Displaced
Involuntary displaced or about to be involuntary displaced due to a funding shortfall in the Housing Choice Voucher Program. In the event of a funding shortfall in the Housing Choice Voucher Program that will result in the termination of current participants in the program. RRHA select to administer a Local Ranking Preference that allows affected Participating families to be placed at the top of the Pubic Housing waiting list. RRHA will offer alternative housing solutions for Housing Choice Voucher Participants impacted by a funding short fall who may become homeless. The affected families may be offered temporary public housing until funding is restored. - Homelessness certified and referred by RBHA and or Homeward
Homeless families certified and referred by RBHA and/or Homeward to RRHA for PH under the terms of the MOU - Involuntary Displaced
- Mainstream Voucher
The applicant that elects to use this preference must be between the ages of 18-61, homeless, on the verge of homelessness and with a verifiable disability. - Non-compliance with the site-based residency requirement
Displaced due to non-compliance with the site-based residency requirement for continued occupancy of 30 hours a week employment boligation in RRHA's Private Management Programs - Prior Creighton Resident
Prior Creighton Resident during conversion - Priority Involuntary Displaced
Involuntary displaced or about to be involuntary displaced by government action, fire, natural disaster, domestic violence, to avoid reprisals, hate crimes, or due to the inaccessibility of unit. - Resident of City Of Richmond MSA
Resident of City of Richmond MSA which includes applicants, who are verified to live ,work or have a written job offer in Richmond who are not currently or within the previous 6 months received federal or state hsg assistance. - Single Not Work Rent and paying 50% of income for rent
- Single Work Rent and pay 50% on income for rent
- Veterans Preference
Families of all other veterans and servicemen who are not disabled or deceased.
It is not known how applicants will be placed on the waiting list, weighed by order of preferences.
