About The Service
The Troy Housing Authority (THA) waiting list for Senior RAD/Section 8 Project-Based Voucher apartments at Conway Court & Kane Apartments is currently open. Applications are being accepted since at least May, 2020, until further notice.
There are three ways to apply during the opening period:
- Print the application that is available online here. Scroll down to the "PRE-APPLICATION FORM" section, and select the "Pre-App for All RAD Sites" link.
- Pick up an application at Conway Court, located at 12 Conway Court, Troy, NY 12180; from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm ET on Tuesdays, and 8:00 am until 12:00 pm on Thursdays.
- Pick up an application at Kane Apartments, located at 5 115th Street, Troy, NY 12182; from 8:00 am until 4:00 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Thursdays.
Once the application has been completed, it must be either:
- Mailed to the THA at 1 Eddys Lane, Troy, NY 12180.
- Turned into any THA site. The THA Directory can be found here.
This waiting list has the following preferences:
- Applicants who live in Troy, New York (including applicants temporarily placed outside the city, through no fault of their own, by Rensselaer County Department of Social Services, whose last permanent address was within the City of Troy, New York).
- Working families and those unable to work due to age (62+) or disability not related to alcohol or substance abuse.
- Working means documented employment or contracting of 20 hours or more per week that will be reported to the Internal Revenue Service.
- Veterans/Current Military Personnel and their families.
- Families from the jurisdiction of the Troy Housing Authority who have become homeless through no fault of their own and are presently being housed in shelters or motels through assistance from the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services.
- Families of Federally-declared disasters who are Section 8 voucher holders or public housing residents in another jurisdiction will receive preference over the waiting list placeholders. Other families of Federally-declared disasters (i.e. those who are not Section 8 voucher holders or public housing residents) will receive one admission preference point due to their displacement caused by a Federally-declared disasters. Other preference points will be granted based on their status prior to the natural disaster.
