About The Service

The Low Rent Housing Agency of Knoxville (LRHAK) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open until further notice.
There are two ways to apply:

Once the pre-application has been completed, it can be mailed or hand delivered to the address listed above.
Be sure to include these documents with the pre-application: Social Security Cards, and if claiming the residency preference, include documentation.


The LRHAK does have preferences for: those who live and/or work in Knoxville, those terminated from the HCV program due to insufficient program funding, those displaced by a disaster such as fire or flood that results in the dwelling being inhabitable, those displaced by governmental action such as code enforcement, public improvements, or development, those displaced by the action of the landlord that results in the family having to vacate the unit where such action is (1) beyond the applicant’s control, (2) occurs despite an applicant having met all occupancy requirements, or (3) the action taken is other than a rent increase (note that eviction for cause does not qualify for this preference), those displaced by hate crimes, those  displaced by inaccessibility of the unit.
