The mission of the United Tenants of Albany is to improve the living conditions of tenants, including physical housing conditions, tenants' rights for security and equity, and the quality of life in the community.
Priority will be given to work with people with the greatest needs, such as
Tenants with lowest incomesWorst housing conditionsMost vulnerable situationsEmphasis will be placed on self-help efforts and on organizing tenants and neighbors around broader housing issues whenever possible as well as providing information and counseling to the general public.
The United Tenants of Albany offers the following:
A drop-in center, which provides crisis intervention and counselingA telephone hotline service, which provides information and responds to questions on housing issuesCounseling, mediation between landlords and tenants, and court advocacyCoordination of homeless prevention services with other organizations to provide assistance and support for people who are at risk of eviction or foreclosure or who have already been displacedTraining on landlord/tenant issuesContact for more information.
