About The Service

The Peoria Housing Authority (PHA) Near Elderly Disabled (NED) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open. Applications are being accepted since at least July, 2021, until further notice.

Please note: According to the PHA, "The NED Program serves the family whose head of household is disabled and under the age of 62."

There are two ways to apply during the opening period:

Once the application has been completed, it must be hand delivered to the HCV Eligibility Clerk in the PHA office at the address above; on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 am until 1:00 pm, and 2:00 pm until 4:00 pm. Applicants will be interviewed by the PHA Eligibility Clerk to review the application for completeness and accuracy. The PHA states that applicants should allow time for an interview when the application is submitted.

This waiting list has the following preferences: 

  • Local Resident: Must be a resident of Peoria County for twelve (12) consecutive months
  • Working: Must have been employed for six (6) consecutive months
  • Disability: Head of Household diagnosed with documented disability
  • Student: Must be able to provide documentation of full-time student status
  • Economic Self-Sufficiency Participant: Must be able to provide documentation of participation in an economic self-sufficiency program
  • Veteran: Head of Household or Spouse is a U.S. veteran

It is not known how selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list.
